17 business plan mistakes that could jeopardize getting a business grant
Tip # 8 - Make sure your business plan has a table of contents

When a business plan is upwards of 50 pages, if the bank or granting officer needs to look at a specific section, such as management or financials, they won't be too happy about thumbing through 50 pages to try and find it. So make sure your business plan has a good table of contents with each section clearly marked, so he or she can find exactly what they are looking for right away.

Don't be afraid to use subsections as needed, especially if some of your sections have several different lengthly points. Make sure your table of contents is usable - in other words, having a 50 page business plan should have a table of contents that is at least a couple of pages long. Having 5 entries into the table of contents kind of defeats the purpose of even having one in the first place.
