17 business plan mistakes that could jeopardize getting a business grant
Tip # 16 - Investigating competitors for your business plan

Find out what competitors there are (including the non-direct but potentially direct competitors that you have identified). When you have identified these competitors, research each one of them. What kind of advertising do they do? Do they sponsor community events? Have a stellar website? Have any political connections? Are they known for excellent (or poor) customer service? Your location versus their location?

Consider all aspects of the competition and how you plan to use this information to better your own business.
