Tip # 12 - Where's the business plan research?

It will become critically apparent to anyone reading your business plan if you have no research to back it up. Just how you don't want to assume, if you make an assumption initally, go and find the proof to back it up your assumption. You need to have the proof shown.

You don't need to provide pages and pages of data to back up your facts, but you should make it obvious that your numbers and facts are coming from proven and legitimate sources, or explain why non-proven sources should be taken as trustworthy. Otherwise, they could think you are pulling your data out of a hat or attributing data to someone who does not really know the deal instead of going to sources available.
